Statement of Faith

Statement of Faith for Harvest Hills Baptist Church:

Harvest believes the Bible is the verbally inspired and infallible Word of God.  We hold to its sole authority in faith and practice since we believe that every word is inspired by God without any error.  Since God promised that He would preserve His Word in Matt. 24:35, we believe God kept that promise by preserving His infallible Word in the traditional Hebrew and Greek manuscripts and ultimately, through diligent and proper translation methods employed by the Authorized Version’s translators, He preserved His Word to the English speaking people of the world through the production of the KJV; therefore, we believe we have the actual Word of God in our KJV Bible.

Harvest believes God is one yet three.  That He eternally existent in the persons of the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit.  These three are one in essence, but distinct in person and function in the Godhead.

Harvest believes Jesus Christ is the Second Person of the Trinity. He is the physical manifestation of the Godhead bodily to the human race. We hold to the fundamentals of the faith concerning His virgin birth, sinless life, and miracles.  We preach without apology his vicarious, atoning death through the blood He shed for sinners and His literal bodily resurrection from the dead.  He is our Redeemer, and we love Him through dedicated obedience to His commands.

Harvest believes the Holy Spirit is an actual being.  He is the Third Person of the Trinity.  He is not a mere force, but an actual being with personality and feelings.  He acts as the Agent of conviction and regeneration.  He indwells, baptizes, sanctifies, and illuminates all who are born-again into God’s family through repentance and faith in the Gospel. Without being unkind, we do not hold to the errant teachings of tongues, signs, or the modern healing movements.

Harvest believes God created everything that exists in six literal days and rested on the seventh.  The chief of His creation was man who was created in perfection until in rebellion He chose to sin against God and fell. Since we are all descendants of Adam, we have inherited his fallen condition and must each personally demonstrate saving faith in the finished work of Christ for regeneration.

Harvest believes salvation comes as a free gift from God for all man kind.  When repentance is personally demonstrated toward God by any man, he is then saved by grace, through faith, with the addition of nothing, the moment he believes in his heart and confesses with his mouth that Christ is his Savior!  Believers are then securely kept by the power of God in this life and in the life to come. We do not hold to teaching that says God pre-elects persons to heaven or hell.  Man’s choice does not negate the sovereignty of God, but rather compliments its strengths and ensures its surety.

Harvest believes in the bodily resurrection of the saved to life eternal in a new heaven and a new earth.  We also believe in the bodily resurrection of the lost to eternal damnation in a literal lake that burns with fire and brimstone.

Harvest believes in the local New Testament Church.  While the body of Christ may have many member in many locations, the local church is a group of local members called out by God’s Spirit for the work of the Church; therefore, we believe she is in fact local and visible.  God has ordained the local church for the preaching of the gospel, the edification of the believer, and the unification of all saints in one-Christ.  The church consists of two offices: Pastor and Deacons, and she practices two ordinances: the water baptism of born-again believers by immersion and the regular observance of the Lord’s Supper.

Harvest believes Christ will come again.  His return is imminent, pre-Tribulational and is for all believers whether alive or asleep at His return. After the Rapture of the saints, Jesus Christ will reveal seven years of tribulation on the inhabitances of the earth which will culminate to in a great battle known as the battle of Armageddon.  Here Christ will defeat of the devil and rule and reign for a millennium.  After the devil is released for a short season, a final battle will ensue in which Christ will destroy with fire the enemies of God, cast the devil into the lake of fire, judge the dead with death and hell and cast them into the lake of fire.  Christ will create a new heaven and a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness.
